This painting was inspired by the colours, ones that were meant to be a painting of flowers that failed, and when I scattered the remaining paint and took a step back to see what the colours would bring forth in my diversion to create something else, it felt like Melbourne. My youngest son will often associate places with a colour from the flag, and whilst that sometimes happens with me, I find some places just feel like a particular colour, whether it’s from art I associate with it, the surrounding nature, or something else; I see and feel everything as colour.
